Wines

It was in 2002 that the Negreiros Family decided to renew the winery where was made the Port wine which was sold to Cockburn’s and become to make its own wine. At that time, the centuries-old cellar of Quinta das Amendoeiras was already for over 10 years abandoned, converted into a warehouse for anything that does not had a place, since the Cockburn’s stopped to make its wine in it and started buying grapes in natura.
While preserving  the best of tradition, such as treading the grapes in granite lagares,  modern technology, such as temperature control during fermentation, was introduced.

From 2004 on, we began selling just half of the fifty tones of grapes produced every year. The other half was used to produce wine in the Quinta. Only two thirds of these twenty five tones of grapes are actually used in the production of ‘Negreiros’, which means that ‘Negreiros’ red wine is made with the best two thirds of the best half of the grapes grown within the boundaries of the best wine region of Portugal – the ‘Douro Superior’.

Clicking on its year you can know something more about each Negreiros
