Here it is

I’ve just known: Negreiros 2008 was honored with a Silver Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles!!!
Cheers!!!
Good news from the Naked Wines (the UK importer of Negreiros)
Although it was approved by the IVDP (Port and Douro Wine Institute) with the maximum grade, which allows us to call it “Reserva”, Grande Reserva”… anything we want, the Negreiros 2009 will be simply what it is: “Negreiros 2009″.
We don´t want to contribute to banalize the mentions to “Reserva”, etc, that´s why, since we started making our own wine, in 2004, we made only one “Reserva” (in 2007). Because it was really a “Reserva, I mean, it was a wine that we reserved, separated from the others and, because of its special characteristics, was bottled separated from the others of the same year.
The 2009 is the product of the blend of all the wines, not a separated part of it. So, although allowed to do it, I will not call it “Reserva”. It´s a matter of respect for the clients: if I achieve to make the better wine in the world but if it isn´t a special part of that vintage, it can receive all the titles but “Reserva”.
Cheers!

Some wonderfull reviews on the Negreiros 2008 from the Naked Wines clients in UK:
Incredibly delicious, absolutely stunning.

Before I embark on a Sauvignon Blanc extravaganza I felt the need for a red winefest tonight.
I really hadn’t anticipated trying this tonight though – not because I had any worries about its’ provenance, far from it I have been trying to ignore my latest acquisition – fat chance!
Sorry, this Duoro wine has a very opaque presence, nice long legs befitting the 14% abv, a hooterful of fruit and spice that is just wonderfull too! To taste, it is very smooth, as it caresses the taste-buds into submission… Distinctly black cherry laden, coupled with some great spicy notes, chocolate too, this deserves to sell by the case rather than the bottle.
Seriously good on its own, but bring on some tasty red meat dish, a touch of spice, and lift-off! A very satisfying wine in case you hadn’t picked up on that already!

I was going to wait for at least a day after delivery for the wine to settle, but I could not wait to reacquaint my taste buds with the 2008. I tried this 2010/2011 alongside the 2007 and it was lighter and building structure nicely, the ladies attending preferred the 2008 to the 2007.
It has now evolved. The tannins are nicely structured, smooth and tantalise you taste buds. A sexy deep red in the glass and the aroma conjures up memories I will keep private unless bribed. Dark fruits burst upon your tongue and slide gracefully down your throat. The finish is very good and leaves with a hint of dark chocolate. This wine is dangerous; it is too easy to drink. I had to fight myself to stop opening another bottle you little minx. To those who managed to pick up a pack on marketplace enjoy and to those who have not purchased before it is now available as single bottles or 6 or 12 or 18.so give it a go it will not disappoint. Mario’s wines are the only ones I have given a well deserved 5 stars.
Cheers

Moreish is how this is described in the blurb and that’s exactly what it is. The missus and I got through a bottle far too easily last night (and she was getting short measures!). Perhaps too good to quaff though, velvety smooth, soft tannins, would be excellent with a lamb shank! Well worth the slightly elevated price tag.

I just received the registration certificate from the IVDP (Douro and Port Wine Institute) to the Negreiros 2009. It was approved with the “Level 3″ – which indicates the highest quality assessment by the Institute.
Give us the congratulations, because we deserve it.
Cheers!
